Transport in Alta

Alta offers a variety of transportation services:

Boat
Ata is a great city to visit, especially if you arrive by boat. The port facility is strategically located and with only 300 meters to the airport the shift from boat to plain a simple matter. Every day the Snøhvit Express leaves Altas harbor and travels as far north as Hammerfest and back again. There are also several cruise ships that visit Alta every year. Plain
Alta Airport is a small airport located about 6 km northeast of Alta near the southern coast of the Alta Fjord. It was the most heavily trafficked airport in Finnmark in 2006 and received over 416 272 passengers. The airport is served by buses and taxis, and it is only 300 meters to the port.

Taxi
Previously there were two taxi companies in Alta, but in 1978 they were transformed into one company, Alta Taxi. So if you need to order taxi in Alta, call +47 78 43 53 53. They also offer services such as sightseeing, minibus (up to 22 passengers) and guided tours for large and small groups. Bus and car rental: FFR (Finnmark Fylkesrederi) is a Norwegian transport company established in 1916 and is the operator of bus services and boat services in Finnmark. You can find timetables for buses and express boats by visiting their website.
